My mission is simple … To make those who are unaware, aware.

Watching television one evening, a commercial on the health channel I believe it was, I listened as a woman spoke of a foe that has attacked her body. She spoke about how it was a long fight, how she didn’t understand why this was happening, how maybe she had caused this to happen, how she just wanted it to stop.

I remember sitting there thinking that she had been assaulted, or attacked while going to her car, maybe raped. Then she said that word …. Cancer, I had never thought about it. She spoke about how early detection had saved her life, a routine exam discovered the lump on her breast and early treatment saved her life. The bravery of this woman was inspiring.

Right there and then I told myself that I was going to do something to get the word out. What?, How? The 3 Day Cancer Walk. I will walk every step of the way for those that are unable and I will walk it for me. 3 days of walking, 60 miles to get to know who I am.

I told my husband about it, he smiled and said go for it Hon, You can do anything you put your mind to. I told my mom about it, she volunteered to work the walk. I told some friends they donated some money.

So, why am I doing this? I am doing this for my friends, and my friends loved ones, their Moms, Sisters, Aunts, Grandmothers that why I’m doing it but, most of all I’m doing it because of me.
